According to ABC7 Los Angeles, a Breeze Airways flight bound for Los Angeles on Wednesday turned into chaos when one intoxicated passenger – armed with a skateboard – picked a fight with a flight attendant and other passengers. He even broke free from his restraints not once, but twice. Witnesses say he hurled racist slurs and refused to cooperate with authorities.
“Why am I still here after 7:45 p.m.? Let me tell you,” passenger PK Mackey told ABC7 after landing in Los Angeles. “Some Tony Hawk wannabe from Outer Banks, North Carolina, rolled in with a skateboard and one too many Bloody Marys this morning — and that’s why we’re late.”
In the air traffic control recording, a voice can be heard saying, “They are calling it a level four disturbance now. They say they had him restrained, he broke out, and there’s passengers holding him down now.”
In the viral video, a flight attendant calls out, “Is there any person who can help me out?” That’s when a black man – nicknamed “linebacker in 17C,”– stepped in and wasted no time shoving him back into his seat. As the kids say, “Play stupid games, you win stupid prizes.”
“He just got up and sat him down in the seat like a little kid,” passenger Jeff Hankerson said. And that is exactly what happened.
The Breeze Airways flight, which departed from Norfolk, Virginia, was diverted to Grand Junction, Colorado, where the authorities greeted the intoxicated passenger and immediately removed him from the plane.
When the footage hit social media, the commentary came flying in. One TikTok user commented, “The way he carried him like a toddler having a tantrum. I’m so embarrassed for him.” Another joked, “He didn’t want no smoke with big man.” A third added, “That smile quickly disappeared when Big Daddy picked him up and put him back in his seat. See, I’m starting to believe airplanes need bouncers.”
