Racial animus isnโ€™t confined to racially charged events, such as the killing of Trayvon Martin. It has now made its way to the hockey rink. Joel Ward, the black hockey player with the Washington Capitals who scored the winning goal against the Boston Bruins last night in overtime, has been board-checked by irate Bruins fans. Instead of hurling their bodies at him for eliminating the 2011 Stanley Cup champions from the playoffs, theyโ€™re body checking him with a barrage of N-words.ย
