The hard-working, title-collecting teen officially became a published author Tuesday when Simon & Schuster released two children’s book written by the talent herself, the Los Angeles Times reports.
The first book, A Night Out With Mama, is a picture book that is inspired by the star’s experience attending the 2013 Academy Awards, while the second book, Shai & Emmie Star in Break an Egg, tells the story of two best friends and their adventures at performing arts school.
But that’s not all; Quvenzhané is expected to continue building up her library as an author, with Break an Egg being the first in a series of chapter books. The second is slated to be released in January.
“I really hope that people my age enjoy reading these books,” said Quvenzhané, who first came into the public eye after her showstopping performance in the movie Beasts of the Southern Wild, for which she got an Oscar nomination. “I’m excited about experiencing new things, and sometimes it gets to the point where I might get a little obsessed with it. But I really enjoy writing, and I can’t wait to do more.”
