The “Abbott Elementary” creator announced the launch of The Quinta Brunson Field Trip Fund on Giving Tuesday (Dec. 2). The fund will support free field trips to local museums and landmarks for more than 117,000 students from underserved communities in the Philadelphia public school system.
Brunson, a proud Philadelphia native, said that field trips were an important part of shaping her educational experience, which is why she wants to give other students access to experiences that will hopefully inspire them to chase their dreams.
“Field trips were some of the most memorable parts of my own education growing up in Philadelphia,” she said in a statement. “They opened my world, sparked my creativity, and helped me imagine a future beyond what I saw every day. Going somewhere new shows you that the world is bigger and more exciting than you believe, and it can shape what you come to see as achievable. I’m proud to support Philadelphia students with experiences that remind them their dreams are valid and their futures are bright.”
The Emmy Award-winning actress and writer, shared her excitement about the field trip fund in her Instagram stories. She even kicked things off with a personal donation of $20,000 and an invitation to others to contribute what they can.
Now, fans are applauding her efforts to help the students in the City of Brotherly Love who need it most.
“Thank you, somebody from the city really giving back,” wrote someone on Instagram.
