Pusha T Came for Travis Scott in Scathing Diss, and Here’s EXACTLY Why He Did It

The two rappers seemingly didn't have an issue, but their rift actually goes back a couple years!

Another day, another hip-hop dissβ€” only this time Pusha T and Travis Scott are involved! And luckily for you, we've got all the tea on it. Let's get into it.

Video will return here when scrolled back into view

Things all started when Pusha dropped his new song, "So Be It," with fellow Clipse rapper Malice, in which he took shots at a rapper who everyone initially thought was Kanye West. However, as time went on and more listeners tapped in, it became clear that the target of Pusha's ire was actually towards Scott and not Ye. Peep the bars below:

β€œYou cried in front of me / You died in front of me / Calabasas took your b*tch and your pride in front of me. Heard Utopia had moved right up the street / And her lip gloss was poppin’, she ain’t need you to eat / The net gon’ call it the way that they see it / But I got the video, I can share and A.E. it. They wouldn't believe it, but I can't unsee it. You lucky I ain't TMZ it."

Now, if Pusha going for Scott's neck seems a bit random, it shouldn't come as a surprise. In fact, according to a recent profile Pusha did with GQ Magazine, he explained why he has beef with Scott, referencing a hella awkward encounter he had with him and Pharrell (yes, that Pharrell) somewhere between 2022-2023.

β€œThe true context of that is we were in Paris, literally working, and he [Scott] was calling to play P his new album. He came to [Pharrell’s] studio [at Louis Vuitton HQ]. He interrupted a session,” Pusha said. β€œHe sees me [and Malice] there. He's like, β€˜Oh, man, everybody's here,’ he's smiling, laughing, jumping around, doing his f*cking monkey dance. We weren't into the music, but he wanted to play it, wanted to film [us and Pharrell listening to it]. And then a week later you hear β€˜Meltdown,’ which he didn’t play. He played the song, but not [Drake’s verse].”

For context, the title "Meltdown" stems from a Drake guest verse on the eponymous song in which he talks about melting down a Neptunes chain he bought off Pharrell's archival auction website.

"I melt down the chains that I bought from yo' boss/ Give a f*ck about all of that heritage sh*t," Drake said in the song at the time.

And where the irony really comes into play is in the fact that Scott's album "Utopia" featured a few vocals and production credits from Pharrell himself. So why go all the way to Paris to parade an album and conveniently leave off a song that has a diss on it? Whatever the answer and whatever Scott's reasoning, it didn't and still isn't sitting right with Pusha, hence his subsequent diss.

"He don't have no picks, no loyalty to nobody. He'll jump around whatever he feels is hot or cling onto whatever he feels is hot. But you can play those games with those people," Pusha told GQ. "We're not in your mix. Keep your mix over there.”

He continued: "Like, dawg, don't even come over here with that, because at the end of the day, I don't play how y'all play. To me, that really was just like… he's a whore. He's a whore.”

Pusha later stressed the incredulousness at people "going out of their way" to bring drama to his doorstep out of nowhere, essentially saying that all he does is dress fly and mind his business. He also said that the only reason he ever claps back is due to the principle he upholds and what he says is the lack of principle people like Scott doesn't uphold.

β€œIt's the principle of it,” Pusha said. β€œIt's the principle of what I'm saying. That filthy quality that they have about themselves, that lack of loyalty. Travis really has that. He's proven."
