Californians took to the streets early Wednesday morning after Donald Trump was projected to be the president-elect of the United States, ABC News reports.
According to the report, although protesters gathered elsewhere in the nation, including in Washington, D.C., the West Coast seemed to have the most activity because of the late hour at which the projection was made.

In Oakland, Calif., around 60 to 70 protesters gathered downtown. According to police, ABC News reports, a female protester who was apparently blocking traffic was seriously injured after being struck by a car on Highway 24.
According to the network, protesters also reportedly set small fires on the street. Police officers were on the scene carrying long batons and wearing riot gear, helmets and gas masks, ABC News notes.
According to KGO-TV, "a small number of arrests for disobedience and vandalism" were made, police confirmed.
In Southern California, between 1,500 and 3,000 UCLA students took to the campus and nearby streets chanting, "[F—k] Donald Trump" and other comments.
At the University of California, Santa Barbara, students also marched through their campus, this time chanting, “No more Trump! No more Trump!"
Protests also occurred at San Jose State University, the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of California, Irvine, the network notes.
