His Purple Highness held a press conference in Harlem's famed Apollo Theater Thursday night to announce a new tour, called "Welcome 2 America," that will launch, vaguely enough, "on a purple day in December." The music legend spoke briefly and was very short on details but noted that no two concerts would be the same and that it would be a good idea to "bring foot spray, 'cause it's gonna get funky." Joining him onstage will be Cassandra Wilson, Mint Condition, Maceo Parker and, lastly, Janelle Monae and Esperanza Spalding, both of whom made The Root 100 2010 list for their oustanding achievements in entertainment. The concert will the hottest ticket in December, so good luck getting to see it!
