Instagram and other social media platforms have come a long way from posting what you were eating for lunch and the funniest memes. Now, it’s become the go-to spot for keeping up with all your favorite celebs, to get a glimpse into their lives and what all they have going on.

Additionally, some of those same celebs have also tapped into the internet’s antics and decided to use it to connect with their fans and offer up more of their personality outside of what we can see on the silver screen. And while some celebs do social media right for the most part–looking at you Will Smith and Halle Berry–others could stand to hop off the apps and go touch grass from time to time.
In fact, there are more than a handful who could stand to put their chronically online status on pause for awhile of only to keep some semblance of peace for themselves and to keep from launching our timelines into chaos. While we love to see them post so much, there’s a time for a little pause every once in a while. So, it’s in that spirit that we thought it’d be fun to name those celebs outright and hope that they can get some IRL respite from all the online chatter and trolls.

Lizzo

Lizzo just announced on Monday that she’d be taking some time away from social media for a minute and honestly, who could blame her? Between the lawsuits, people trying to lob Ozempic accusations at her and more, she could stand to take a beat (yet again) from all the online noise.
Ray J

We quite literally just broke down to you all the ways in which Ray J has been cause for concern over the last handful of years. His antics on social media are entertaining to say the least and a lowkey cry for help to say the most. He should probably part ways with the apps for a good little minute to help clear his mind and get back to himself.
Ye, f.k.a. Kanye West

LOL. Do we really have to explain this one? It used to be somewhat fun seeing what funny thing Ye would post on X/Twitter and his Instagram. But things have gradually (and rapidly, at the same time) taken a turn for the worst over the last several years. He’s an absolute train wreck on social media and it’s beyond time he give his accounts over to somebody else for a very prolonged period of time.
B. Simone

Given influencer B. Simone‘s recent podcast episode where she expressed being worried about her finances, that may be the impetus she needs to just take a social media hiatus for awhile. She hasn’t always said the right thing so while she may serve us up some laughs from time to time, a little break could prove to be more beneficial than she realizes.
Nicki Minaj

This one should be a no-brainer. While Nicki Minaj dropping new music and other drops on social media is fantastic, what’s not fantastic is when she decides to go on a X/Twitter tirade about Lord knows what and who and causes her fans to question her mental state. A few tweets expressing your displeasure is one thing, three days worth of it is cause for concern. Somebody please take this woman’s phone and tell her to go relax for a bit. Things are starting to get weird.
Tracee Ellis Ross

Now, for the most part, Tracee Ellis Ross is GOOD on social media. Her fashion OOTDs (that’s “outfits of the day” for those who don’t know) and self-care videos and gym-posts are the thing of ultimate goals. However, that underwear video left a sour taste in a lot of people’s mouths and may have been a good sign to keep some things offline and to yourself. Keep those fit checks coming though, Tracee! Your closet is the stuff of dreams.
Halle Berry

Halle Berry is one of those unexpected celebs who decided to have a social media presence and have it in the most fun way possible. Whether she’s cracking jokes on X/Twitter or dancing around in a bikini on Instagram, the Oscar-winner is a unexpected good time on the internet. However, being chronically online can come with some pitfalls–like that hella cringey Mother’s Day video. That just means that Berry may be better off turning off the camera and setting her phone down a bit more. We promise your fans will still love you the same!
Megan Thee Stallion

Megan Thee Stallion‘s voiceover videos are arguably one of the best things to hit the internet in a long time, especially the ones with her new boo, NBA star Klay Thompson. But given how new the relationship is, we’re hoping she can find some balance and keep some things private. We get it, you guys are in love and happy! We love that for you, but knowing that Meg’s bad history with internet trolls before, we’d hate to see them try to rain on her love parade. Show us the cuteness, but then keep the rest offline Meg! We want to see this last.
Will Smith

We all can probably agree that when it comes to famous folks who do social media right, Will Smith is at the top of the list, much like Berry. He’s fun, he’s creative, he’s on-trend. Buuuuut, sometimes we might need a break from the Fresh Prince just to maintain a little bit of mystery. After all, he is still one of Hollywood’s biggest movie stars. Let us miss you some, Will! We’ll still be tuned in when you get back.
Cardi B

We love Cardi B. on socials! Between seeing her cute kids, fire outfits, and her random thoughts, she’s a fun follow. However, we’ve seen what comments from folks online can do to her, specifically her over-explaining herself and her decisions in X/Twitter Spaces and hopping on Instagram Live to defend a myriad of things. She such an influential celeb with so much going for her, it would be advantageous for her to just continue to live her fabulous life and not give the haters and naysayers any more air time.
Azealia Banks

OK so while we may not love Azealia Banks on Twitter all the time, a broken clock is right at least twice a day. Plus, we’d be lying if we said seeing her rants weren’t often-times entertaining. But maybe, just maybe, it might do her some good to shut her laptop down every other week.
Tyrese

Tyrese said he was going to “throw in the tile” and take a break from social media not too long ago. Clearly that didn’t happen. But maybe, just maybe, it’s finally time that he does. He can pop back out when Fast X comes back in theaters but for now, the posts are getting to be a bit much. A break might be the reset that he needs.
Tina Knowles

While we love seeing whatever corny jokes Mama Tina Knowles has to dish out on social media and enjoy seeing her share her two cents about random things, she does often have to go back and delete certain things or correct her words every now and then. Maybe she should take a beat and go enjoy her sweet grandbabies and give her phone up to Blue Ivy from time to time. But keep the jokes coming, those are a hilarious breath of fresh air on our timelines!
Ari Lennox

If the discourse over the last week was any indication that singer Ari Lennox might need to back away from socials, then expect to see her disappear for a little while. She’s been open about not feeling the love online for years now, who knew her sharing her opinion on a beloved TV show would cause all of this. We do miss her getting ready or her random singing sessions though, so maybe if she can find a balance between giving us that and keeping the trolls at bay, that may work out best for her!
Candiace Dillard-Bassett

When Andy Cohen told former “Real Housewives of Potomac” star Candiace Dillard Bassett that she was “a mess on Twitter,” we couldn’t do anything but laugh in agreement. She’s been a fireball for years, often dragging her castmates in some seriously shady reads and sometimes jaw-dropping rants. Since making the decision to leave the show and have her first child, it appears she’s calmed down. But every now and then, she’ll still pop off which only proves taking a break from talking mess on the timeline is the best course of action if she’s trying to turn over a new leaf and enter a new, less-social media problematic era of life.
