Oprah's hairstylist defends "kinky hair" comments: Andre Walker recently told Elle magazine, "Kinky hair can have limited styling options; that's the only hair type that I suggest altering with professional relaxing." Called out for contradicting his own "Make peace with your hair" mantra and devaluing natural styles, he's now wildly backpedaling with comments about breakability, braids and textures that "lack luster and shine." Did someone need attention after the show went off the air, or was he serious? 

Religious leader kills 4-year-old he thought was gay: Prosecutors laid out the case Friday against a Durham, N.C., man charged with killing a 4-year-old boy and 28-year-old-woman, saying he led a "religious" group of women and children who called him Lord and feared him.  The allegation is that he killed the child because he thought the child was gay, along with the woman after he learned that she couldn't have children and wanted to leave the group.

MLK III announces date for Bounce TV launch: Bounce TV, a new broadcast network skewed toward African-American viewers, will debut on Sept. 26, the network announced. Founded by Martin Luther King III and others, it will feature a mix of movies, sports, documentaries and original programming.
