Online Erupts in Support as Black Senators Hold RFK Jr.’s Feet to the Fire

RFK Jr. faced harsh questioning from Black members of Congress, and better believe Black folks on social media had a field day!

As one of President Trump’s most polarizing cabinet picks, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is no stranger to scrutiny. From his history of racially-charged conspiracy theories to persistent questions regarding his qualifications, Kennedy has long been a lightning rod for criticism. However, the pressure reached a boiling point this week as he faced a blistering interrogation from Congress over his most divisive health policies

Black lawmakers took center stage, delivering a blistering interrogation that has since set social media ablaze. Leading the charge was Georgia Senator Raphael Warnock, who didn’t mince words while grilling Kennedy on his record. “Even as you seem distracted while I talk about deadly diseases, I think you’re dangerous to the American public and you ought to be fired,” Warnock declared. “And if you’re not fired, you ought to have the decency to resign. You’re way in over your head.”

Folks on X praised Warnock for standing up to the Health Secretary. “Let the record show many good Americans stood up to the crazies like RFK,” @raghu_venugopal tweeted.

Others like @dreamlivsome expressed frustrations over Black leaders seemingly always leading the charge. “Why is it only ever black people saying the real s**t,” they asked. “Like why does it always have to be us?”

@Abstruce1 chimed in, calling out RFK Jr. for being unqualified for his role. “RFK Jr. ruined his family’s legacy. He’s a f***ing lawyer with no science degrees in charge of America’s health,” she said. “Where is Ben Carson when you need him?”

Warnock wasn’t the only one bringing the smoke. When Louisiana Representative Troy Carter took the mic, he blasted Kennedy for attempting to deflect blame onto the previous administration. “How do you then inject something about the Biden administration?” Carter demanded. “I’m asking you about something—I want you to answer honestly, sir.”

To that, Black X users also called Kennedy out. “RFK Jr. has a short memory,” @RountreeRonda wrote.

“They are tearing his ass up in this court room,” @Brycenthegreat wrote.

Clips of Black Congressmen and women going off on Kennedy also found its way to TikTok. When Md. Sen Angela Alsobrooks questioned Kennedy about his previous claim that Black kids are inherently violently, she read pieces of his exact statements. To that, Kennedy refused to acknowledge his previous words.

Many users praised Carter for his professionalism. “I [love] how he started the line with ‘respectfully’ and then went on to drag him through filth,” @DanteHub22 said.

Texas Rep. Marc Veasey also had some choice words for RFK Jr. “You have blood on your hands. I honestly hope that Donald Trump tells you to get to steppin’ next,” he said. We previously told you the president has demoted three members of his cabinet– all of whom are women.

Sen. Angela Alsobrooks (D-MD) probed Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. over prior comments he had made on a podcast about government stepping in to “re-parent” Black youth.   “Can you admit today that you said every black kid can get reparented on a wellness farm?” the Maryland Democrat asked in a Wednesday hearing.   The HHS secretary indicated he was unfamiliar with what Sen. Alsobrooks alleged he had said.   “You said, ‘Every Black kid is now just standard put on Adderall, put on SSRIs, benzos, which are known to induce violence. And those kids are going to have a chance to go somewhere and get re-parented,’” Sen. Alsobrooks quoted. “You said that if you could, you would ‘send every Black kid … to go live on farms and work.’”   “I have no memory of saying anything like that,” Secretary Kennedy said. “That’s not my vision for my country.”   The secretary made the reported comments in a 2024 appearance on the “High Level Conversations” YouTube series with commentator 19Keys, during his unsuccessful campaign for the presidency.   #rfkjr #congress #politics #cspan

Folks like @MissTrinia01 agreed with Veasey. “We need to go ahead and impeach and remove this Frankenstein monster,” she wrote on X.

@latricecrosland commented, “He did not want that recording played!!!” Another TikToker, @teeyaskipper, said, “I would’ve played the audio first.”

Kennedy spent the hearings defending his shaky record and praising his work on TrumpRx and vaccines. The hearing comes as concerns that President Trump’s control over the Department of Health and Human Services continue to ring throughout the country.
