New York Giants rookie safety Chad Jones was involved in a serious car crash in New Orleans early Friday morning that left him in critical condition. Officials at the scene told New Orleans station WWL-TV that Jones suffered a fractured left leg and had arteries and nerves exposed. He went into surgery at 10:15 a.m. Jones, a football and baseball star at LSU, recently signed a four-year, $2.6 million contract that included a signing bonus of $825,965. The 6-foot-2, 221-pound native of Baton Rogue had a rare achievement while in college, winning national titles in football in 2007 and baseball in 2009. He was a pitcher and outfielder for LSU and was twice drafted by the Houston Astros. His prognosis is unknown.
