Prosecutors say they expect to wrap up their sex crime case against Sean โ€œDiddyโ€ Combs as early this week. Yโ€™all know what that means - Combsโ€™ attorneys are up next to present evidence to prove the rapperโ€™s innocence.

What The Defense Did So Far

In opening arguments, Combsโ€™ defense owned their clientโ€™s behavior of domestic abuse. However, they told the jury while their client might be a flawed, โ€œcomplicated man,โ€ the case is not focused on that.

โ€œWe take full responsibility that there was domestic violence in this case,โ€ said one of his attorneys in court via CNN. โ€œDomestic violence is not sex trafficking. Heโ€™s not charged with being a jerk or being mean. Heโ€™s charged with running a criminal enterprise.โ€

The defense also told the jury that every woman who claimed to be used as a pawn in Combsโ€™ sexual fantasy freak off events were willing participants and were only motivated by money to turn against Combs and falsely accuse him of trafficking them.

So far, the defense has been playing their cards close to their chest. However, theyโ€™ve continued expounding on their initial argument through their cross examination of witnesses. They picked and poked through the testimonies of Combsโ€™ ex-girlfriends, questioning their recollection of events, casting doubt on their claims of being forced into sexual acts and asking them to specify their financial dependency on the rapper.

What Defense Might Do Next

We don't know who the defense plans to bring to the stand. If they bring anyone forth, it will more than likely be individuals who can counter the witnessesโ€™ claims and sustain their argument that the rapperโ€™s weird sexual fantasies, domestic disputes and struggle with drug abuse donโ€™t make him a federal criminal.

Psychologists or behavioral experts would be helpful in this area. Itโ€™s doubtful that any of Combsโ€™ family members would be called to testify considering the common rule that witnesses arenโ€™t supposed to listen to each otherโ€™s testimonies and Combsโ€™ family has shown up in court for the majority of the trial.

Lastly, itโ€™s unclear if Combs himself will take the stand on his own behalf. He previously touted that he was ready to tell โ€œeverythingโ€ on the stand. However, he would be put in a vulnerable position to be grilled by the prosecution. A confirmation on whether he will testify or not can be expected toward the end of the defenseโ€™s presentation when the judge inquires about it.

That decision may come sooner than we think. According to recently uploaded court documents, the verdict sheet has been prepared for the jury. We may know as soon as this week whether Combs will be convicted or acquitted of his charges.

Combs is facing multiple counts of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and engaging in interstate transportation for prostitution. On the more serious charges, the rapper faces life in prison or a minimum of 15 years.
