North West, the eldest child of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West is steadily growing up and has never shied away from taking fashion risks–even at her young age. But the latest trend she’s hopped on is unfortunately drawing ire from folks online and now, the young tween is speaking out about it.

In case you missed it, in September, the 12-year-old shocked fans when she was pictured out and about in Rome with a dermal piercing on her middle finger. Seeing how that finger can be used to send a derogatory message and that North is still a tween, many people on social media were taken aback that she was sporting that. This came just a few weeks after she had folks up in arms for a pair of looks she rocked in which she could be seen with ombre blue hair, a questionably low corset top and more.
At the time, users were quick to share their disdain.
“This is why #Kanye be on the internet crashing out. Why the f*ck is #NorthWest 12 year old ass dressed like a f*cking grown a*s woman???? And please don’t say it’s because her parents have money, Kim hoe a*s needs to be a parent and stop trying to be her homegirl,” one person wrote on TikTok.
After seeing the dermal piercing, more harsh words towards North (and her mother) were lobbed. But in a recent video to the “clock app,” it appears as if North is done being quiet about.
In a post on Wednesday, North could be lip-syncing to a viral audio sound, saying: “Why are you crying? How old are you? Just pull it together.”
Her onscreen caption read, “This is for everyone that’s mad over a finger piercing.”
Wow, making a funny video to troll your haters? She’s already turning into a mini-shady person. We kinda love to see it! After all, she is young and experimenting with what she likes on the world stage, people shouldn’t really be so invested in other kid’s lives like that anyway. I mean, we get it, she’s a celeb kid–but she’s still and kid and not your kid, you know?
But rest assured, North doesn’t have to defend herself by herself. Kim also spoke out in mid-October, defending her child’s style decisions during an interview on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast.
Explaining how her daughter doesn’t let all the negative chatter phase her, Kim said: “She’s really mature in one sense where she’ll be like, ‘Mom, I saw this and I don’t really care that they don’t like… my blue hair or this or that. She’s really confident and is like, ‘I probably wouldn’t be hanging out with those people.’”
The “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star also asked, however, for grace as she and North try to navigate finding her signature style and likes.
“I’m like, okay, we’re never wearing that again. Unfortunately, we made that mistake in front of the whole world. As a mom, you’re kind of like learning at the same time,” Kim said.
