According to NBC New York, Kevin Hodges, 36, has been charged with murder in the deaths of his mother, Rebecca Hodges, 56, and his grandmother, 76-year-old Dorothy Bradshaw.

Kevin Hodges' sister told the news station that her brother had been struggling to make child-support payments since losing his job.

Authorities got a call around 8:30 p.m. Monday saying that screams for help had been heard at the family's Jersey City home. Police found Rebecca Hodges and Dorothy Bradshaw unresponsive and wounded, the news station reports.

Both women were transferred to a local hospital, where they were both pronounced dead.

Kevin Hodges' former employer, Rent the Runway, confirmed to the news station that Hodges had been let go. It added that he was a temporary employee who worked in its warehouse for about 11 weeks.

Hodges is being held on $4 million bail.
