Every other day, there seems to be a new trend on TikTok that has the masses running to grab their phones and record. This latest one, spawned by an old Nicki Minaj song is having the same effect but it may have just reached its breaking point.

The reason why stems from one Russian influencer who’s now suffered a serious health injury in her attempt to take part in the fun. For context, the trend was inspired by a pose from Minaj’s 2013 song “High School,” featuring Lil Wayne.
Near the 30-second mark, the pink-haired rapper can be seen posing in a seated position near a pool with one leg crossed over the other all while wearing heels. Off first glance, the stance looks normal and easy to replicate. But as shown through countless videos, it’s a lot harder for folks to find their balance than they thought — especially when they’ve decided to take it a step further and strike the pose while atop something…crazy.
Mariana Baruktina learned the hard way when she tried her hand at the challenge. Choosing to do the pose on top of a bottle of baby formula that was on top of a saucepan, things seemed to be going well as an off-screen friend helped her balance. But the minute she let go, all hell (and some bones) broke loose.
Barutkina ended up with a broken spine but appeared to be taking things in stride.
“I decided to start blogging, the first content shooting – and here I am leaving the doctor diagnosed with ‘Th9 compression bending uncomplicated fracture of the body.’ The irony? Karma ? Or just life, which always tests our strength at the most unexpected moment,” she wrote on her Instagram.
Unfortunately for her, she’s not the only one who’s been unsuccessful in their attempts at this challenge. While TikTok user Mrs. Iheanacho didn’t suffer any serious injury, she learned real quick that this challenge isn’t built for the weak…or stair rails.
Ashley Raye, who attempted to do this challenge while at the gym and atop two dumbbells, should’ve used all of her fitness logic to figure out that this wouldn’t turn out the way she thought it would.
While it’s true that moms are superhumans, there are still some limitations as to what they can do. TikTok user Mandi learned that through firsthand experience when her attempt at the challenge while pumping breastmilk had her tumbling over her children’s blocks.
User Mika messed around and found out too that no matter how confident you might be in the set up, that tiny space with that tiny heel won’t give you the ending you were expecting.
User Ms. Chase Capone decided to use the trend to entice people to come get their hair done at her shop. But sis, how are they gonna do that if your station is broke because you tried to do this challenge, huh? Enough is enough!
I mean seriously folks, this could really cause some serious injuries as we’ve already talked about. Is trend-hopping really worth a trip to the hospital and potential big bill, and some painkillers?
