After the Jacksonville win, Chestnut explained what exactly happened between him and the Jaguars player. “I don’t know why the punter did that, I was just trying to play hard, and he came up to me and said he was going to kill me,” Chestnut said of Cooke. The punter hasn’t responded to the allegations against him, but certainly death threats are not in accordance with NFL policy.
Many folks online called Cooke out for his alleged threat. “Logan Cooke must still be mad after Julius Chestnut rocked him on the last punt,” @TDavenport_NFL said on X. “He walked over and tried to start with Chestnut, then some other extracurricular activity started.”
“Dude was gonna pull an aaron hernandez,” @Eddiejones24143 said.
@ofcourseuwontt wrote, “some punters definitely give secret serial killer vibes not surprising.” The Jaguars blew out the Titans by over 20 points that game. Some users accused Chestnut of lying about the Cooke’s alleged threats because of their horrific loss.
“Way to play dumb here… ‘I don’t know’ ‘it was him’ ‘I just play hard’. Stop it. You know why. You were also wrong. And you talked out of the side of your mouth too,” @KleighM84 said.
“I’m sure it had nothing to do with laying on top of our safety or grabbing our punter’s shoulder pads before anything was even said to him,” @JDins_5 wrote. “Poor guy.”
Cooke punted the ball during the start of the fourth quarter. In response, Chestnut blocked Cooke with a hit nasty hit, which forced him to be evaluated for a concussion, ESPN reported. But it’s during Cooke’s second punt that things got out of control. Cooke and Chestnut collided on the field, with the Titans’ player grabbing Cooke’s jersey as both teams tried to de-escalate the drama.
@1cactusjax tweeted, “Cooke been in Florida for too long he acting crazy.”
Many people felt like Chestnut started the drama, so he shouldn’t be complaining about Cooke’s response. @btctwice tweeted, “Not only are the Titans the worst team in the league… we have Karen’s playing for us.”
@onlyJagInGroup responded online, “Dumb**s got clowned by a punter so he’s gotta lie to save face.”
“There’s no way this is true but if it is that’s f**king hysterical,” @KenniMiddleton said. “Imagine getting bullied by a punter.”
You’d be surprise to know just how many folks stuck up for Cooke, however. “Your punter isn’t telling your rivals he’s gonna kill them? That’s soft,” @Bholc79 tweeted.
“Adding this punter in fantasy immediately,” @j_a_i_m_j_a_i_m said.
@JohnPassin wrote, “Got that dawg in him.”
Some folks were over the entire league. “This generation is so weird. Dude this has been said in every football game since the beginning of time,” @Reefmetax tweeted.
@thekaramelchic tweeted, “This organization is a whole s**tshow like I’m so glad I’ve stopped watching LORD HAVE MERCY.”
