Speaking outside of the courtroom to TMZ on Wednesday, Lanez’s lawyer Crystal Morgan and Lanez’s uncle rapper Speedy gave positive updates about the hearing. Speedy, however, also took the time to speak on the events that led up to the 2020 shooting.
“I deeply believe in my heart that that night was a night that all them could’ve handled themselves without getting anybody involved because it was just a twisted evening,” Speedy said in part. “And due to the fact that Tory always wanna be the problem solver, that’s just him! He always wanna be the one to solve sh*t. And the best way, everybody know the best way to solve sh*t in Hollywood and everywhere else and what is to just shut the f*ck up. Be quiet.”
He later went on to express that his nephew “got the short end of the stick” in the entire ordeal and said that the he’s been doing philanthropic deeds to help get people out of from behind bars for minor offenses for years.
Morgan explained that she felt “strong” and was optimistic about how the appeal went, noting that the justices listened and took notes on her arguments.
“I’m not gonna lie, not every case goes as well as today. So I am very pleasantly surprised. I was fully ready for it to go either way where they would like my arguments and listen and accept me and I was fully prepared if they didn’t,” she said.
She went on to maintain that Lanez was innocent, alleged that the district attorney “hoodwinked” them, and that the results of Lanez’s trial were “manipulated to get a conviction.”
“Convictions don’t always equal justice,” she said.
Of Lanez’s next legal moves, she later added: “We wait for this decision. Of course, we pray for favor. We could be looking at reversal, of course we want reversal, that’s the big win. And the alternative, we’re asking for a new trial. The we would go down to the superior court.”
Morgan also let on that Lanez has “other avenues” that they’re pursuing and “safety nets” in place in case things with this appeal don’t go their way. Additionally, Lanez will also need to gear up for a interview happening soon in connection to the defamation lawsuit Megan and her attorneys filed against Milagro “Gramz” Cooper, a blogger that they alleged conspired with Lanez to spread lies about the Texas rapper.
