Two long months after a 15-year-old girl’s decomposed body was found inside of his car, singer D4vd is now being investigated as a murder suspect. Up until this point in the investigation, Los Angeles police have kept a tight lip on who– if anybody– might’ve had something to do with Celeste Rivas’ death. Now, her grieving family could be one step closer to finding out the truth.

We previously told you Rivas went missing from her home in April 2024. But it wasn’t until over a year later when her body was discovered stuffed inside the front trunk of a Tesla. The car was registered to D4vd. Police haven’t made any arrests in connection to the case, but now, sources confirmed to TMZ that they’re investigating the singer.
The curious case of Rivas has paralyzed the city of Los Angeles and fans of the TikTok artist. D4vd has avoided making comments about the ongoing murder investigation, but as we’ve previously reported, the 20-year-old singer has been pulling some interesting moves in light of Rivas’ discovery.
D4vd transferred two of his property deeds to his mother around the same time that his LA rental was searched by authorities. The deeds were added two a trust in D4vd’s mom’s name back in September. He also hired Blair Berk, a criminal defense attorney with previous clients including convicted sex offender Harvey Weinstein, according to the New York Post.
Meanwhile, toxicology results to confirm Rivas’ cause of death are still under review. Because of this, LAPD have not officially ruled her death a homicide. A LAPD source told TMZ, however, the investigation into Rivas’ death is being treated as homicide. Police previously said D4vd had been cooperative in their case.
Now, however, a different source with “direct knowledge” told NBC4 Investigates D4vd has become uncooperative. They believe Rivas died sometime during this past spring and that Dv4d allegedly “likely had help in dismembering and disposing of the body.” These allegations have not been confirmed directly by the department.
No paperwork has been filed confirming D4vd as a suspect either, but many online have continuously speculated that he allegedly knows more about Rivas’ death than what’s been made public so far.
He and the deceased teen had matching tattoos on their hands, we told you. Rivas’ mother also confirmed her daughter was dating someone named “David” at the time of her disappearance. On the flip side, fans and friends of the singer posted damning videos, pictures and unreleased music that suggest D4vd at the very least knew a girl named Celeste.
At the time of Rivas’ discovery, D4vd was in Minneapolis on tour, which was later cancelled. After becoming wrapped up in the investigation, brands and other musical artists have distanced themselves from the TikToker.
