Since retiring from the NFL in 2014, former wide receiver Nate Burleson has successfully reinvented himself as a television personality and host known for his charismatic personality, and, of course, his incredible sense of style. But when the usually dapper Burleson appeared on the September 21 episode of The NFL Today show wearing a jacket in the most intense shade of yellow and an oddly-shaped haircut with Nike swoosh-inspired sideburns, his look left many people with questions. His outfit and haircut went viral for all of the wrong reasons, as thousands of fans expressed their dislike on social media.

Some were quick to place the blame with Burleson’s barber and wasted no time airing their beef in public.
“I need an arrest warrant for Nate Burleson barber right now,” wrote someone on X.
Others were convinced that the television personality’s insane outfit had to be the sinister work of someone who was on a mission to embarrass a man whose wardrobe usually never misses on live television.
“I want to know the details of the bet that Nate Burleson lost to make this entire look happen,” wrote another totally confused commenter on X.
As the jokes rolled in across the internet, the CBS Mornings host was not about to let one bad look ruin his stylish reputation. Instead, he took time after the show to explain his getup. In response to the buzz, Burleson addressed the curiosity about his look, writing on X:
“For those who were curious about my *look today… The NFL Today is celebrating 50yrs of our iconic show by honoring style & vibes from the 70’s. So, how did I do?”
But folks in the comments even used that moment to joke about Burleson’s 1970s style.
“I know u have nunchucks in your Cadillac, player.” wrote someone in his comments.
