Weddings are usually a joyous occasion full of love and merriment. But for one Black bride, she got a sweet surprise when her soon-to-be hubby decided to bring in singer Musiq Soulchild to sing during their ceremony. However, his presence is leaving much to be desired according to folks on the internet.

As you well know, Soulchild is the smooth voice behind popular Neo-Soul hits like “Love,” “Just Friends,” “Half Crazy,” and more. He’s been in and out of the spotlight in recent years, most notably popping out for random appearances or performances (who could forget that Verzuz pop up?) and in Kountry Wayne skits.
But now, it looks like he’s taking centerstage on a smaller scale thanks to a groom who decided it’d be sweet to have him serenade his blushing bride with his 2002 hit, “Dontchange.” While the groom initially began singing as the bride made her way down the aisle, the voice changed and it was soon revealed that Soulchild himself was present and began singing the rest of the song.
Unfortunately for him though, his vocals nor his outfit garnered a lot of praise from people online as the video began to circulate.
“I love Musiq Soulchild… but do you know how pissed I’d be if he showed up to my wedding looking like that?! Sounding like that?!” wrote one user.
“You know how pissed I’d be if we hired Musiq Soulchild to come sing at my wedding and he showed up to my wedding in an airport outfit and terrible vocals????? Cancel the check. Dispute the funds,” said another.
For one user, the singing was so bad, it made them have a flashback to a previous negative experience with the “So Beautiful” artist.
“The worst concert I’ve ever been to was musiq soulchild actually. O2 indigo. His voice was terrible and he was on stage like he didn’t even wanna be there. As if we were bothering him. I left early cos it was that bad,” they said.
“The husband ate musiq soul child up honey,” another user wrote.
For a handful of others, they were completely bothered at the singer’s choice of outfit for such a monumental occasion and questioned why he’d show up in a nearly, all-denim fit.
“Now why would he show up to these folks wedding dressed like a hobo???” one user questioned.
“This was cool but I’d be furious if he showed up to my wedding dressed like this,” said another.
“Musiq Soulchild outfit screamin ‘damn i forgot i was booked for this,’” one other user joked.
Added another: “Musiq Soulchild really showed dressed like he was supposed to be singing at Dave & Busters.”
Listen, at the end of the day, all that matters is that the bride was happy, OK! If Musiq can still bring a little bit of magic to their special moment all while wearing denim, more power to him!
