Cardi B, who is still enjoying her meteoric rise to fame, leads the pack with 21 nominations. That includes double nominations in the categories of Top Selling Song, Top Collaboration and Top Hot 100 Song. She narrowly missed beating the record set by Drake and The Chainsmokers, both of whom received 22 nominations at the 2017 Billboard Awards.
Drake and Post Malone each have 17 nominations, and Travis Scott has 12 nominations.
Kelly Clarkson will host the event, which will be broadcast from the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Wednesday, May 1, at 8 p.m. Eastern and Pacific.
The Billboard Music Awards honor the yearβs most successful artists, of which Cardi is most definitely one.
Since her debut with βBodak Yellow (Money Moves)β two years ago, the Grammy Award winner has remained a presence on the Billboard charts, with three No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 list, and her albumβInvasion of Privacyβdebuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums list. She is only the fifth female rap artist to have a No. 1 album. According to Billboard, her entire catalog has had a record 5.8 billion on demand streams in the United States alone.
Hereβs to hoping Cardi gives us another fire performance the way she did at this yearβs Grammy ceremony.
Sheβs the only reason I would be tuned in, anyway.
