Her onstage antics in a furry swimsuit with Robin Thicke sparked a nationwide discourse over twerking and cultural appropriation. All the while, Cyrus has stayed quiet โ€” until now, in an exclusive on-camera interview with MTV.ย

Madonna's done it, Britney's done it โ€ฆ anyone that performs, that's what you're looking for, you're wanting to make history. Me and Robin [Thicke] said the whole time, "You know we're about to make history right now."ย 

Whether or not she's made history in any significant way has yet to be seen (we doubt it), but her performance at the VMAs will certainly go down as the moment when twerking went the way of the Electric Slide, and now everyone thinks they should learn it. In the interview, Cyrus suggests we should all find other things to talk about, saying, "You're thinking about it more than me."
