On the heels of Dr. Dre’s public apology for beating up women, his ex-fiancee, R&B singer Michel’le, is having her say.

The singer-turned-reality-TV personality isn’t buying his apology. In an interview with the BBC, Michel’le, who was with Dr. Dre for six years and has a son with him, said she thinks it’s a publicity stunt.
“I don’t really think it’s a sincere apology,” Michel’le told the BBC. “I didn’t ask for a public apology, and I think if he is going to apologize he should do it individually.
“Treat us like we have names,” she continued.
Michel’le says the violence she endured during her relationship with Dr. Dre affected her career. “I had to cover two or three black eyes for my videos,” she said. “One of the makeup ladies said, ‘You’ve got to stop letting him beat you.’ “
The singer also recounted one incident when she was beaten for not cooking enough chicken. “One night I baked him chicken and I didn’t make enough,” she said. “He beat me because I didn’t have another piece of chicken. It became that kind of relationship. I would move out for three or four months and come back. We just had a cycle.”
Dr. Dre’s apology came just a week after the movie Straight Outta Compton was released and days after journalist Dee Barnes, in a post for Gawker, wrote about the time Dr. Dre beat her up.
In his apology, Dr. Dre said that he was a changed man who has been married 19 years. “I’m doing everything I can so I never resemble that man again. I apologize to the women I’ve hurt. I deeply regret what I did and know that it has forever impacted all of our lives.”
Maybe Dr. Dre doesn’t realize just how much he impacted the lives of the women he beat.
