The news of Reiner and his wife Michele Singer’s death came as a shock on Sunday when it was reported that they were found dead in their home in Brentwood. Their son Nick Reiner was arrested later that night on suspicion of murder, per CNN, with local authorities confirming he was “responsible” for his parents’ murder. Los Angeles police also confirmed that Nick was booked on suspicion of murder though no official charges have been filed yet.

Obama revealed on Monday night on the Jimmy Kimmel Live that she and Barack were actually supposed to see Reiner and his wife the day he died. She went on to say that they knew the iconic Hollywood couple for “many, many years” and spoke highly of them.

Then, she directed her energy towards President Donald Trump and indirectly called him out for his egregious and disgusting post about Reiner on Truth Social.

“Let me just say this, unlike some people, Rob and Michele Reiner are some of the most decent, courageous people you ever want to know. They’re not deranged or crazed,” she began.

Obama continued: “What they have always been are passionate people in a time when there’s not a lot of courage going on. They’re the kind of people who were ready to put their actions behind what they cared about. And they cared about their family, and they cared about this country, and they cared about fairness and equity–and that is the truth. I do know them.”
