Megan Thee Stallion Gets Emotional During Testimony Against Blogger

In an emotional testimony, the rapper revealed the mental and financial toll of years-long cyberstalking, deepfake exploitation, and online attacks connected to the Tory Lanez shooting.

During her emotional testimony on the witness stand, Grammy-winning rapper Megan Pete, known professionally as Megan Thee Stallion, broke down while detailing the severe mental toll of the ongoing federal defamation trial. The rapper is suing content creator Milagro “Gramz” Cooper for intentionally causing emotional distress, alleging a smear campaign that included cyberstalking, promoting a sexually explicit deepfake pornographic video, and casting doubt on whether Tory Lanez actually shot her in July 2020.

On Nov. 20, the courtroom heard a heartbreaking revelation from the rapper about the impact of the harassment, especially after the deepfake’s emergence. “I felt like no way I mattered. No way I should even be living,” she said according to reports. ” I don’t want to be here. I’m tired of waking up. I just wanted to die. I was so tired of being alive.” She concluded by stating, “I’m not going to kill myself because I’m not going to give them what they’re looking for.”

Previously reported by The Root, the Grammy-winning rapper shared with the jurors about battling rumors, including that she was sleeping with her manager, Travis Farris, and dealing with a great deal of anxiety as a result of the rumors. The attorney also questioned the “WAP” rapper about her undergoing surgery post the shooting, discussing the bullet fragments removed from her feet and her feelings about the claim that she wasn’t shot, a narrative that she believes Lanez and Cooper are pushing online.

According to news reports, the star also shared details about entering a medical facility to receive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), a therapy designed to help people manage intense emotions while reducing destructive behaviors. The therapy process cost roughly $240,000.

Independent court reporter Megan Cuniff tweeted that Megan testified for an hour and a half. “Everybody thought that I deserved to get shot because I talk about sex and I twerk and drink,” the rapper said, according to Cuniff.

The rapper also told the court that Cooper had intentionally painted her as a liar and mentally unstable. “She’s created a space for a lot of people to come speak negatively about me,” the star said about Cooper. Additionally, she referenced social media posts in which the blogger attacked the star’s character before concluding her testimony.

While the case is ongoing, social media is weighing in. One Threads user wrote, “Who in their right mind would even suggest a shooting victim be a shootable character?”

Another followed up, “I’m not a fan of her music but I am a fan of her. This woman has been wronged so much and she has stood up for herself constantly. Inspiring as heck, but also, like, can she be left alone?! Let a girl live in PEACE”
