As you more than likely know by now, Knowles is the father of Beyoncé and Solange and played an integral part in forming the former’s career, especially when she was in her girl group Destiny’s Child in the late 90s. Subjecting Bey and her groupmates to intense vocal trainings, choreography, media training, stage presence and more, Knowles’ handiwork laid the foundation for the group to reach high heights.

But despite the efforts, time and energy spent on turning Destiny’s Child and then eventually Bey as a solo artist into household names, his name isn’t often brought up when it comes to conversations about managers who had the Midas touch. And now, in a new interview with Esso World and Hynaken, he’s running down his receipts and calling out the reason why he hasn’t been given due credit.

“Beyoncé was the number one female artist of the decade from 2000 to 2009. Don’t take my word, just go research it. Guess who was the number one female group in the world? Destiny’s Child” Knowles explained in a viral clip on Monday on the “Bag Fuel” podcast. “But the other part of that, if I was a white manager, I would be considered the number one manager ever. So, I never get that respect that’s deserved.”

He went on to say that the reason he feels he’s been snubbed essentially is because he was Black and revealed that the manager behind Britney Spears, the Backstreet Boys and NSYNC back then was Black, but he also doesn’t get the acknowledgement he deserves. Knowles also mentioned Usher’s mom as another unsung hero in the music industry who played both roles as the parent and the manager, but rarely gets her flowers.

“So it’s Black first. It’s Black first,” Knowles said in part.

Thankfully for Knowles, he didn’t have to wax poetic or plead his case for too long as other viewers agreed with him and hopped on social media to say as much.

“AGREED! He did his big one with Destiny’s Child… all his personal business to the side!” wrote one user on Instagram.

“He really did put the blood and sweat into the grind. We know that tho, it doesn’t go unnoticed,” said another.

Added one other user: “Sir you birthed the most talented artist alive or dead. Your family name “Knowles” will go down in history at that enough !!!”

Said another, “It’s true. He don’t get the same respect as Clive Davis.”
