The church world is in shambles. Things hit the fan when the news broke that Glendon “Teddy” Campbell has officially filed for divorce from Mary Mary’s Tina Campbell after 25 years of marriage. While we’ve watched them fight for the marriage through the highest of highs and the lowest of lows on reality TV, the couple is officially calling it quits.

Teddy Campbell filed the petition in Los Angeles County on Monday (Apr. 13), citing irreconcilable differences, according to TMZ. While they exchanged nuptials back in August 2000, the documents revealed news that we didn’t see coming: they have actually been separated since June 2024.
Trecina “Tina” Campbell, one-half of the powerhouse gospel group Mary Mary, is most recognized for their smash records “Shackles (Praise You),” “This Love,” and “Heaven.” In the early seasons of their WE TV reality show, “Mary Mary,” we were introduced to her other half, Teddy Campbell. Fans fell in love with their love story — until things started to fall apart.
If you were a dedicated follower of the couple, this split may not come as a complete shock. We first saw the cracks in the foundation back in 2013 when Tina candidly opened up about Teddy’s repeated infidelities. “I thought we had a good life like everybody else watching,” Tina yelled during a vulnerable moment captured on the show. “I thought we had an ideal relationship, just like everybody else. And I got to find out in front of the God dang world that it was a lie.”
In an Essence interview, Tina shared that initially she struggled with intense rage, as we watched this painful journey toward forgiveness play out on screen.
By 2015, it appeared that their relationship was improving. They renewed their vows, Teddy went into ministry and they were working with other couples to salvage their relationship. They shared with the world that their love was “perfected” through God’s grace.
So to learn that the beloved couple had been living separate lives for nearly two years has caught fans off guard.
Per TMZ, the couple has two minor children. Interestingly, Teddy didn’t check the box for immediate custody in his divorce petition; instead, he requested the court establish visitation and asked for spousal support to be mediated between the former couple. And you know what is most telling? The filing document indicates there are no community property issues to sort out, usually a sign that they’ve already handled the business side behind closed doors.
Since the news broke, our timelines are already reacting, and as expected, folks did not hold back their thoughts.
“YOU DESERVE EXACTLY WHAT YOU TOLERATE,” one X user posted. “I wish I could even feel for her, but there were signs. There were many! Women need to stop acting like f*cking victims!”
Others were more compassionate.
“I know yall are gonna drag it, but I’m praying for Tina. She fought hard,” one Thread user posted. “I did not agree with her political stance years ago, but everyone could see how much she loves that man. She tried to follow 1 Corinthians 13:4-13 with him. I pray she finds peace & can be vulnerable with her village.”
As the conversation continues, social media is revisiting the painful details of Teddy’s past betrayals, including rumors of an alleged affair with their children’s godmother.
“Tina Campbell’s husband had an affair with their children’s godmother. He cheated with 4 different women in their home while she was on the road and they were still pretending to be happily married.” The allegation has not been confirmed.
Another X user speculated another unconfirmed accusation: “Tina Campbell’s husband filing for divorce is…that lady stayed with him after she found out he was cheating while she was in the road and cheating with one of their friends in her bed.”
As for now, Tina Campbell has yet to issue a public statement regarding the filing.
