Now, a video of the incident has gone viral on TikTok, and folks online are praising the college students for showing the MAGA folks the door. Here’s the tea.
On Tuesday (Sept. 23), right-wing activist group Fearless Debates showed up on the Tennessee State University campus unannounced to debate TSU students as part of their ongoing “Fearless Tour.” Hosted by MAGA supporters Cam Higby and David Khait, the “Fearless Tour” is going to different universities in an attempt to continue what Charlie Kirk was doing with “The American Comeback Tour.”
However, according to the “Fearless Debates” Instagram page, within 10 minutes, Higby and Khait were escorted off campus when students let them know they weren’t going to participate in their game.
One student, Talia Talley, filmed the interaction on her TikTok page. The video shows students with banners that have “Black Lives Matter” written on them and students who boo while the debaters pack away their equipment.
“We’re walking them to the door, y’all. I don’t even know how they got on campus. We’re gonna figure that out, but I don’t know. They need to get like a trespass, like a penalty, or something,” Talia said in her TikTok.
In the comments of the video, folks cheered the students on for showing the MAGA supporters that they weren’t welcome on the TSU Campus.
“As an HBCU graduate, I’m so proud of y’all,” wrote one user.
“They’re there to ragebait y’all. Glad y’all didn’t let them get comfortable,” added another.
“Prime example of they claim to hate us but won’t leave us aloneeeee,” wrote another.
Another user asked how the debaters had managed to trespass on campus in the first place: “The real question is why were they allowed to even set up on campus. This is an administration problem, and you need to find out who is playing in y’all’s faces. They got the ok, they could come and set up.”
On Tuesday evening, Tennessee State University released a statement to show support for their students and confirmed that Higby and Khait showed up on the HBCU campus without giving them prior notice.
“Today, a group of individuals unaffiliated with Tennessee State University appeared on campus without prior notice… Campus police and staff responded promptly, and the individuals were escorted from university grounds without incident. At all times, TSU students conducted themselves in a professional and respectful manner,” the statement read.
Fearless Debates took time to respond to the statement in a post that claimed they were attacked by students, but like TikTok, folks on Twitter were proud of the HBCU students for showing Fearless Debates the door.
