On Wednesday, North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson manage to avoid reporters who asked him about his past comments and called their line of questioning βpure shameful.β Instead of addressing their concerns, his security detail rushed Robinson into an elevator.
Robinson was at the legislature for a ceremony celebrating a Craven County police officer when reporters attempted to ask him questions after it was over. βYou want to come out here and besmirch that ladyβs award by coming out here and asking me that silly question?β Robinson quipped back.

βThatβs what you got out of this? Thereβs your answer. Shameful, thatβs what it is. Pure shameful. And you should be ashamed.β Just weeks ago, Robinsonβwho is currently the Republican nominee for governorβgarnered a slew of negative press after he told church attendees that people need to be killed during one of his campaign stops.
βSome folks need killing!β Robinson said during a half-hour speech in Lake Church in the town of White Lake. βItβs time for somebody to say it. Itβs not a matter of vengeance. Itβs not a matter of being mean or spiteful. Itβs a matter of necessity!β
Robinson, who labels himself as a βMAGA Republicanβ has a history of deplorable remarks. He has stated that trans women should be arrested, homosexuality is linked to pedophilia, supported the racist βbirtherβ conspiracy about Barack Obama, called Michelle Obama a man and promoted antisemitic conspiracy theories.
Anderson Clayton, the North Carolina Democratic Party chairwoman, shared her disapproval for Robinsonβs during a virtual news conference earlier this week. βMark Robinson makes North Carolina less safe...itβs jarring and irresponsible for the sitting lieutenant governor and the Republican nominee for governor to say something so reckless and so clearly intended to incite violence.β
