What authorities found was a chilling irony: The middle school counselor accused of betraying the safety of a school student was discovered dead in the ruins of one.

Westdale Middle School counselor Quinton Dixon was placed on administrative leave on Jan. 15 while he was being investigated for allegedly inappropriately texting a minor, The Advocate reported.
Between early November and early January, Dixon allegedly sent several inappropriate Instagram messages to an unnamed 14-year-old student, according to court documents per local news station WBRZ 2. He was accused of offering the teen rides home from school, asking her if she had a boyfriend and repeatedly called her attractive.
An anonymous whistleblower posted on social media several messages Dixon allegedly sent to the girl. That same individual also shared those alleged messages with Dixon’s employer, who immediately launched an investigation.
The East Baton Rouge Parish School System confirmed Dixon was placed on leave after they were “made aware of these allegations,” Louisiana First News reported. The district added that they take “all such matters seriously and will take appropriate action based on the findings in accordance with our policies.”
The Baton Rouge Police Department issued a warrant for the 44-year-old’s arrest on four counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile — a felony — on Wednesday. The warrant claimed Dixon’s alleged messages were “consistent with grooming behavior in pursuit of an intimate relationship with the minor victim.”
The same day his arrest warrant was issued, authorities made a gruesome discovery.
His body was found in the cafeteria area of the abandoned, and mostly demolished, Glen Oaks Middle School on Monarch Avenue. The coroner’s office confirmed that the person found was Dixon, but said “the cause and manner of death are under investigation.” However, Baton Rouge Police confirmed that a suicide occurred at the school, according to The Advocate.
The Parish School System released a statement, extending its “condolences to the school community, family and loved ones as they process this information during this difficult time.”
Redell Norman, who said he coached football with Dixon, told WBRZ 2: “It’s unfortunate the circumstances of his untimely demise—but yes, I did know him and the situation is just so unfortunate. We just got to pray for everybody.”
