Last week, Lizzo took to Instagram to condemn the negative treatment she has received online. However, on Tuesday (April 2) she decided to walk back her statement with a video post explaining what she actually meant.
“I just need to clarify — when I say I quit, I mean, I quit giving any negative energy attention,” she stated. “What I’m not gonna quit is the joy of my life, which is making music, which is connecting with people.”

According to her, she realizes that she is not alone in her frustrations with social media commentators. She continued, “In no way, shape or form am I the only person who is experiencing that negative voice that seems to be louder than the positive … I’m going to keep moving forward, I’m going to keep being me.”
This all seemingly contradicts the original message that she wrote on March 29, saying, “I QUIT.”
“I’m getting tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the Internet,” she wrote.
The star also lamented that even though she wanted to make “the world be a little better than how” she found it, the public doesn’t have her back. Was this all just a ploy for sympathy amid her legal troubles?
Ron Zambrano, who is representing Lizzo’s former dancers Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez in their lawsuit against the singer, said her latest point is an attempt to “deflect from her own failings as she continues to blame everyone else for the predicament she is in.”
The three women have accused the “About Damn Time” singer of sexual harassment, creating a hostile work environment as well as racial and religious discrimination. Yes, Lizzo has been bullied online because of her size throughout the years, but she has also been provocative on purpose.
Hopefully, Lizzo will spend actually “quit” making social media videos and get back to making good music.
