Let’s Get Nerdy: Our 2024 Preview for Black Comic Book Fans

We’ve got news on all the titles, specials, anthologies and variant covers Black comic book fans will be looking for in 2024.

If you’re a Black comic book fan, it looks like 2024 is going to offer you some fantastic new stories and art, featuring new and established characters. From DC, to Marvel, to Dark Horse, to Stranger Comics, this is the roundup you need when it’s time to update your pull list. “Enduring Farewells,” by NK Jemisin and Jamal Campbell – “DC Power 2024″

We’re starting with the 10 stories featured in DC Comics’ “DC Power 2024” anthology. First up is NK Jemisin and Jamal Campbell as they check back in with Green Lantern Jo Mullein at the end of her year-long probationary period. “Green Lantern John Stewart arrives at the City Enduring to help wrap up her tour, and escort her back to Oa,” per the story’s description.

“The Light That Shines,” by Brandon Thomas and Khary Randolph – “DC Power 2024″

Located somewhere in the future, Duke Thomas/The Signal finds himself in an alternate Gotham City where he’s Batman.

Crispus Allen/The Spectre and Renee Montoya/The Question are on the trail of a mystery that ties into February’s “Red Hood: The Hill.”

Nikolas Draper-Ivey (“Static; Shadows of Dakota”) delivers a stunning crop of Black History Month variant covers for some of DC’s most popular and influential heroes, including Batwing, John Stewart, Cyborg and Nubia.

Red Hood: The Hill

On Feb. 13, gentrification comes to Gotham City. Jason Todd/Red Hood heads back to The Hill, Gotham’s Black neighborhood, to team up with the vigilante Strike, to take down a new villain. The six issue series is written by Shawn Martinbrough, with art from Sanford Greene.

Collecting “Red Hood #51” and “Red Hood #52,”Red Hood: The Hill #0” is out on Feb. 6.

Marvel’s Voices: Legends

Releasing Jan. 31, the one-shot features four stories that includes “a celebration of Misty Knight’s 50th anniversary [and] the long-awaited return of Elijah Bradley, aka Patriot.”

Shook! A Black Horror Anthology

Marcus Roberts, Bradley Golden, John Jennings, and Rodney Barnes are among the writers delivering scary, thought-provoking horror stories in this anthology scheduled for release Jan. 31.

The Asiri Volume 1

Scheduled for release June 19, this YouNeek Studios graphic novel is described as “X-Men meets Attack on Titan.” Written by Roye Okupe, with art from Samuel Iwunze and cover by Sunkanmi Akinboye and Etubi Onucheyo, this “space epic” is about “an advanced West African civilization of space explorers threatened by a mysterious enemy.”
