According to the Hollywood Reporter, Lee Daniels has stepped away from the film because of scheduling conflicts. The film, which was set to go into production this fall, starred Epps, Oprah Winfrey as Pryor’s grandmother and Kate Hudson as Pryor’s widow, Jennifer Lee Pryor.

Reports say that Daniels wanted the Weinstein Co. to hold off on production once again, but it declined. So the company’s now searching for another director.

Daniels definitely has his hands full with Empire and his upcoming series, Star.
