La. Woman in Hot Water for Allegedly Receiving Medicaid While Living A Celeb Lifestyle

A Louisiana woman was arrested as authorities accuse her of pulling off a multi-year scheme to receive Medicaid benefits.

The jig is up for a Louisiana woman who was arrested this week after being accused of pulling off a multi-year scam using government benefits to fund a ridiculously lavish lifestyle. According to WDSU, authorities arrested 35-year-old Candace Taylor after the Louisiana Department of Health reported they had evidence she was committing Medicaid Recipient Fraud.

The department claimed that between 2020 and 2024, Taylor intentionally underreported and concealed most of her income in order to take advantage of Medicaid, applying for her benefits under the alias “Candace Sailor” (creative, right?).

Although she allegedly reported having no income at all in 2020, authorities discovered Taylor actually made over $480,000 in deposits into accounts that were held in her name within that year. She also had several payments issued from those accounts to cover things like cosmetic surgery procedures, expensive jewelry and property purchases. She also made payments on a 2022 Lamborghini Urus, according to Fox 8. After all, who in their right mind would go through all of that just to pull up to the spot in a busted ride?

Further investigation uncovered that Taylor actually had several businesses that generated more than $9 million in revenue between January 2020 and December 2024.

According to Fox 8, Taylor’s arrest record shows investigators found evidence in her social media posts that confirmed she was living more like a Real Housewife than someone who needed government assistance. Because you can’t live like that and not floss in front of all your friends, right?

Taylor’s investigation is still ongoing, but Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill has a message for anyone who may be thinking about trying to pull off a similar scam writing on X on July 29:

“Public Service Announcement – No, you can’t buy a lambo and plastic surgery while receiving Medicaid benefits.”
