On their podcast, “Hoopin’ N Hollerin’,” former NBA players Patrick Beverly and Jason Williams had a lot to say about Thompson’s performance this NBA season, which hasn’t been an uncommon topic of conversation among sports fans.

Sports Illustrated noted that the Dallas Mavericks haven’t had the best start to the season, with Thompson having a scoring average of only 8.5 points per game, resulting in the Mavericks having a less-than-favorable scoring outcome from one of their best shooters.

However, while athletes are used to having folks criticize their performance in a game, what irked Thompson was when the podcast hosts, Beverly and Williams, blamed his poor performance on his love life.

“I’m from West Virginia, man. I’ve been taught a lot by some old folks. Old white folks.” Beverly started. “It only takes one p**** to drag a battleship across a desert, that’s how powerful it is. You know what I’m saying? Klay Thompson, I’m not saying that’s what it is, but that might be what it is?”

These gross comments made by Williams about Megan Thee Stallion and why she could be the reason Thompson is off his game were enough to take the NBA star off the court to shoot a sharp yet classy response into the comments of the podcast clip on Instagram.

“Referring to my GF as a “p***” is so disgusting and disturbing. Especially from someone who played in the NBA. How would y’all feel if I referred to your wives in such a way? Do better, fellas. Very disappointing,” Thompson wrote.

This isn’t the first time former NBA players had things to say about Thompson’s relationship with the Houston rapper. As we previously reported, Black Twitter clowned Shaquille O’Neal in the summer after he said that he thought their relationship would only last six weeks. But now, it looks like Thompson has had enough of the talk and is ready to defend his girl.

Fans of the couple hyped Thompson up in the comments and thanked him for being a man who cares enough to stand up for his boo.

“Thank you for standing up against people talking weirdly about your partner. Megan deserves no less,” wrote one user.

“I 100% agree. Protect Black women. Enjoy y’all’s lives. I’m happy for you and Meg,” added another.

“Good on him for calling out two former NBA dudes for being weird and lame and rude,” wrote another.

Even on X, fans of the couple added that Thompson is a real man for standing up for the “Savage” rapper.

“Klay is my definition of a man. It’s about time we see respectful and educated men being platformed. Too many illiterate fuck boys saturating the market,” added another.
