Chris Brown‘s “Breezy Bowl XX” is his highest grossing tour— selling 1.7 million tickets, grossing $241.4 million total— with 14 shows in August alone generating $96.8 million in revenue. But Kevin McCall, one of his former songwriters and producers, is seemingly feeling a way about that after he tearfully confessed to relying on government assistance despite writing some of Brown’s hits. And the Black internet has something to say!

As you may remember, McCall was one of the voices behind two of Brown’s hit songs: 2010’s “Deuces,” “No BS” and the 2012 track “Strip.” While the three singles were wildly successful at the time, it would be the only three songs Brown and McCall would do together as their working relationship fizzled out not too long after that. The reason why was largely due to McCall’s ill feelings towards the “Yo (Excuse Me Miss)” singer which would escalate into a mostly one-sided beef with eventual threats of physical violence being thrown back and forth between the two of them.
Every now and then over the years, McCall would pop in and out of headlines for airing out his issues with Brown and for his allegedly violent relationship with model and former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Eva Marcille.
Fast forward to October 2025 and McCall is once again the talk of the timelines thanks to a recent interview he did on the “Back on Figg” podcast. In it, he tearfully claimed that Brown owed him $25,000 for the songs they did together and that his financial state has dwindled down so much that he has to use government assistance like EBT to feed himself.
“Why the fuck I got an EBT card and this nigga is at ‘Breezy Bowl’ and made ninety, whatever the f*ck million?” McCall said throwing down his EBT card and crying profusely. “I can’t even get nothing. Bro, man. Y’all n*ggas wanna see a n*gga cry on here so y’all can think I’m a b*tch. That sh*t ain’t fair, n*gga! I’m on EBT bro. That’s wild! I’m on EBT son, look! It say my name!”
He later shared that he had to go in there with a mask on “like COVID” so his identity would be hidden due to his embrassment.
Naturally, once the video began to circulate, many wondered if or when Brown himself would respond. Well, they got their answer on Tuesday when Brown posted a cryptic message on his Instagram story. While he didn’t mention McCall specifically, users online clearly took what he said as an unofficial response to McCall’s words.
“Remember this: you can’t walk across a burnt bridge. And you know what’s funnier than a troll? A BROKE ONE,” Brown wrote.
In a random turn of events, rapper Young Thug entered the chat and offered to pay McCall the $25,000 he claimed he’s owed, writing in a post on X/Twitter: “Kevin McCall hit me my nigga, I’ll give u the 25k u need, and i no CB would give it to u also bro he a real one. Niggas is busy sometimes brada.”
However, once the social media streets got wind of McCall’s breakdown and Breezy’s response, many couldn’t help but to feel like Brown was justified in not helping him out, citing McCall’s alleged previous words where he threatened the “Kiss Kiss” singer and his daughter years ago during their years-long feud.
“Chris been done with him when he told Chris he will put him and Royalty in a casket… Chris hates him for life,” wrote one user on Instagram.
“Kevin completely disrespected Chris FOR YEARS and abused both of his daughter’s mothers and cyber bullied all three people FOR YEARS. He made his bed, now he must lay in it,” said another.
One user noted: “Welp, he beat Eva [Marcille, his ex-girlfriend], doesn’t see his daughter and is jealous and threatened Chris!?! Sheesh, karma in action. You reap what you sow.”
Over on X/Twitter, similar sentiments were expressed.
“and BEFORE anyone fixes their mouth to say Chris Brown is being mean… context: Kevin McCall threatened to kill him AND his daughter, Royalty. Baby, Chris is NOT giving you money just because you spent your royalties from a handful of songs,” said one user.
“you wanna cry now but was just threatening chris brown & his kid… & still talk about cb to this day, did you forget? now that you got interviews you want to cop pleas… not cool,” one other user said.
Added another: “Didn’t Kevin McCall get paid 6 figures for Deuces and blew it? Didn’t he try to fight Chris Brown? And what in the world does this tour have to do with any of that? Yaba Daba Doo man this shit crazy!”
