Though it’s been a minute since Kevin Federline and “Moesha” star Shar Jackson were in the news cycle, that all changed thanks to a recent revelation. What was shared was something that her and her longtime fans have known for a while, but have been waiting for decades for confirmation.

As you may remember, Jackson and Federline dated years ago from 2000 from 2004 and share two children together — daughter Kori Madison (born in 2002) and Kaleb Michael (born in 2004). Unfortunately, their breakup would happen a little before their son was born as Federline would go on to pursue a relationship with Britney Spears.
In his upcoming memoir “You Thought You Knew,” Federline is coming clean about him and Jackson’s time together and revealing that he broke things off with her in a bad way. Specifically, per US Weekly, he revealed that instead of being forthcoming with her about his interest in Spears, he lied to Jackson and told her he’d “booked a commercial shooting overseas.” In actuality, he was going to Europe to accompany the “…Baby One More Time” singer on her “Onyx Hotel Tour.”
“I handled the breakup with Shar poorly,” Federline wrote. “I wasn’t honest or direct. I knew [the truth] would hurt her, and I didn’t want that. If I could go back in time, I’d handle that whole thing differently. But life doesn’t work like that. We f*ck up and we learn.”
After some time, Federline called Jackson to officially break things off and told her that he and Spears were involved.
Recalling that moment, Federline said: “I could hear the heartbreak in her voice, and the pain it caused. She was angry. But under the anger was something deeper, a sadness I couldn’t undo.”
While the two of them would no longer be a couple, he assured Jackson that he wouldn’t be stepping out on his role as a father to their two kids. Yet and still, that wasn’t enough to quell her anger or disappointment.
Thankfully though, this story has a happy ending–or, at least it does from Federline’s perspective. In a recent interview with US Weekly on Oct. 15, he gave an update on where he and Jackson stand today, noting that their relationship is “great” and that he has “nothing but respect” for her.
“Me and Shar are good. We’re great. That happened so long ago, and, you know, I’ve apologized to her, and all of that stuff has taken place a long time ago. I just felt that it was an important piece to put in the book,” he said.
Jackson has yet to publicly respond to Federline’s comments or his new book but when she does, we’ll definitely circle back to this discussion!
