Ever since former Vice President Kamala Harris’ 2024 loss to President Donald Trump, Americans have been biting their collective nails, waiting to find out if she would ever run again. The Democrat has kept her future career plans close to the chest, dodging questions about a possible 2028 presidential campaign and the state of the Democratic party. But now, she has finally given the public an answer.

The former senator is still on tour for her memoir, “107 Days.” She stopped by BBC for her first U.K. interview to address whether she could ever become the first female U.S. president. “Possibly,” she said. “I am not done. I have lived my entire career a life of service, and it’s in my bones.”
With Harris leaving a sliver of hope that she may run for office again, many Black folks celebrated the news online. “Aw s**t let me start saving for the inauguration now chile,” @feenfordevi said on X.
Some people said it’s a no-brainer that Harris should launch a 2028 campaign. @BobbyKingDeal wrote, “75 million Americans voted for you. You should absolutely run again.”
On TikTok, @blackfactsmatter called Harris “Donald Trump’s worst nightmare.” The user went on to say, “Trump wanted her gone. He wanted her name buried with Biden’s legacy, but Kamala just told the world… that she still believes a woman– possibly herself– will sit in that Oval Office.” He continued, “what’s even more powerful is she’s right.”
Despite Harris collecting 75 million votes back in November, many MAGA supporters said she — and everyone else in her party — doesn’t have what it takes to beat Trump. Still, @sharondac83 said, “I’m hoping so, and I don’t care what those Trump supporters say.”
On the other side, TikToker @anna392269 said, “I think the Democrats in general are toast for awhile. It doesn’t really matter who you put in there.” He continued, “The Democrats in general have a tainted brand,” pointing to the focus on LGBTQ+ rights and DEI as reasons for this.
Other folks said they want Harris to take a permanent step away from all things politics. “She should NEVER be allowed to show her face in politics again after losing the most winnable election i don’t care,” @DaturaQuinn said on X.
@DocHikes tweeted, “And this is why we’re still protesting her book tour. She wants to run again on the same losing platform… Insanity.”
“She’s such a bad candidate come the f**k on man,” @taeoct6jr tweeted.
Others online were torn on whether she should run and if they would vote for her in the first place. @unc4nny_X said, “I would vote for her but Kamala Harris running for president again would actually be one of the worst possible things that could happen to this country like this shit may actually kill us all.”
“As much as I want her to I don’t think she will,” @isaacbyl responded on TikTok. He went on to say she should run for another office. “I do see her becoming Attorney General or possibly Secretary of State! There is only so much she could do as potus but as AG or SOS she’ll have more of an ability to fix everything they royally f’d up.”
