Yup, you read that right, and no, it’s not a typo. The “V.S.O.P.” singer finally opened up about the nature of her relationship with the “Ignition” artist. For some background, Michelle has gone on record on several occasions over the years, discussing how Kelly was a musical mentor to her and credits him for helping her learn the ins and outs of the music industry. However, in a 2020 episode of TV One’s “Uncensored,” she also shared how their relationship became “dysfunctional” at one point and that she felt “trapped” while living with him.

“Being in that house offered its own set of dysfunctional issues for me. I remember feeling trapped. If I leave this house, I’m never going to sing,” she said at the time. “I’m having to stay there. I don’t see my family. I don’t see anybody but R. Kelly.”

Now, sitting down for a new episode of “The Jason Lee Show,” Michelle revealed for the first time that she was actually in love with Kelly and that they had been intimate with each other, but her feelings were one-sided.

“I loved Robert Kelly, I loved him,” she explained while making it clear that she hadn’t written him a letter or attempted any contact with him since he was sentenced to prison following his 2021 and 2022 federal convictions.

She then debunked online blog reports that alleged Kelly became physically violent with her, making it clear that he never hit her at any point.

“Rob didn’t hit me. I didn’t go through an abusive Rob,” she said. “My truth with Robert Sylvester Kelly, Robert Kelly always saw me as nothing. I might have loved him, but he didn’t see me as nothing more as motivation for writing. I wasn’t the woman he wanted, even though I wanted him. I did.”

Circling back to his crimes, the “Can’t Raise a Man” singer also said that what he did was wrong but that he was enabled and empowered to do those things by the people around him.

“Robert is absolutely completely wrong in the things. But those people around him never corrected him. That’s not an excuse, Jason. Because I am a woman advocate, like I’mma get in there for a woman. If you tell me a man did something to you, okay, we ride at dawn,” she explained.

She later quipped: “If I talk, everybody is going to jail.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Michelle claimed that Kelly’s ex-wife Drea wasn’t a victim and that his former “protegé” Sparkle ought to be in prison with the disgraced R&B singer.
