Joy-Ann Reid has secured a spot as host of one of the two new daytime programs MSNBC is launching on Feb. 24, according to Variety. Reid’s new show will begin at 2 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday.

Ronan Farrow, the son of actress Mia Farrow, will also be hosting a new show on the network at 1 p.m. EST.
“Ronan and Joy are two of the most thoughtful and impressive journalists out there, and I’m excited for what they will bring to the afternoon,” said MSNBC President Phil Griffin in a statement, according to Variety.
Farrow’s and Reid’s shows bump News Nation With Tamron Hall and Andrea Mitchell Reports, which will be moved to 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. respectively.
“Tamron has established herself as one of the best news anchors in the business. It strengthens us to have her hosting during our morning news block,” Griffin said of the changes. “Andrea Mitchell is so critical to MSNBC, and I’ve always thought her show should be at noon. Andrea brings on the biggest newsmakers of the day, and the new time slot will help showcase her work.”
According to the site, MSNBC has been trying to improve its daytime slots as the network tries to juggle news analysis as well as breaking news. There have been critiques that it doesn’t invest enough in breaking news.
Reid, who has worked all across news media, from print to radio to television, has been in the industry since 1998.
