Jennifer Hudson Finally Responds to Being Called the ‘Worst Dressed’ at the 2007 Oscars…and So Does Black Internet

Jennifer Hudson tells a stunned Andy Cohen what she remembers most about the night she took home her Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in “Dreamgirls.”

For an actor, winning an Oscar should be one of the happiest nights of their lives, especially if they get to take home the coveted trophy for their first acting role. Jennifer Hudson was visibly emotional when she won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her portrayal of Effie White in the 2006 film “Dreamgirls,” beating out a crowded field that included Cate Blanchett and Abigail Breslin (aka “Little Miss Sunshine”).

But while she knew the moment was extremely special, there were some parts of the night Hudson says she’d rather forget.

In a recent appearance on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live,” Hudson told host Andy Cohen that the most surreal moment of the 2007 Academy Awards for her was not being recognized for her acting talent by her peers, but being called “Worst Dressed” at the ceremony.

“After I won the Oscar, we went to the after parties and plastered on all the cocktail tables, ‘Jennifer Hudson Worst Dressed,’” Hudson told Cohen.

She went on to explain to a shocked Laverne Cox that magazine covers calling her look one of the worst of the night were everywhere, but she handled it with grace – covering up those covers with her statue.

Some in the comments argued that although JHud is a talented singer and actress, her style could use a little help.

“They didn’t lie Jennifer is cool but she does need a stylist she dress like Common dresses her,” wrote someone on Instagram.

Others were willing to give Hudson a pass and placed the blame for the brown Oscar de la Renta gown with metallic jacket overlay squarely on the shoulders of her stylist, the late Andre Leon Talley.

“That brown dress was horrific. Andre Leon Talley set her up 😂😂,” wrote another commenter on Instagram.

But die-hard JHud fans had a completely different take, arguing that the best way to shut down the haters is to flash that golden statue in their faces.

“Oh Chile, that wouldn’t bother me. I’m an Oscar winning artist. Not a Barbie doll,” wrote someone on Instagram.
