Just weeks after Jay-Z was accused of raping a 13-year-old girl in a lawsuit filed against him and Sean βDiddyβ Combs, his request to file a motion to dismiss the case has been granted by a judge.
As reported by E! Online, Jay-Z (real name Shawn Carter) can officially file his motion to dismiss the lawsuit on Feb. 6. The plaintiff, who only goes by the moniker βJane Doeβ and is being represented by Tony Buzbee, may then file an opposition against the motion by Feb. 28.

The star has denied all of the allegations against him in the lawsuit and just last month, he filed a motion to reveal the name of the plaintiff. Alex Spiro, Jay-Zβs lawyer, stated in the motion that his client βis respectfully seeking either dismissal of the allegations or disclosure of the Plaintiffβs identity.β
In the documents, Spiro also wrote that it was not βconsistent with justice, fairness or the rules governing federal proceedingsβ for the plaintiff and her representation to βsmearβ Jay-Zβs βgood name.β
Last month, a New York federal judge ruled that the plaintiff β who is from Alabama β may continue to remain anonymous during the beginning stages of the litigation.
However, according to CBS News, she may be required to reveal her identity later on if the case continues.
Shortly after Jay-Z was accused of sexual assault, he immediately issued a statement denying the allegations.
βThese allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!!β Jay-Z said.
βWhomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree? These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.β
The lawsuit against Jay-Z is just one example of the numerous cases that Combs is facing. Combs is currently in custody as he awaits a trial on federal sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy charges.
