In the U.S. House of Representatives, you won’t be able to find two more diametrically opposed politicians than Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett and Ga. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. The country watched one viral interaction between the fiery Democrat and former MAGA Republican ignite a shady — and hilarious — political beef between the two. And now, Crockett is looking to bury the hatchet… at least when it comes to one key issue.

We previously told you Crockett is running for Texas Senate ahead of the 2026 midterms. She spoke with The Root to explain the state of her relationship with Greene after the Republican publicly defected from President Donald Trump and MAGA.
The Georgian announced her early retirement last month following months of criticizing Trump, we also reported. Following her dissent, Greene revealed she received death threats from the MAGA collective. “Even Trump’s most loyal Republican, Marjorie Taylor Greene, has decided that it is time for her to exit stage left,” Crockett told us.
“Because it’s bad when you’re on the other side of [Trump]. So nobody else wants to feel that,” she continued. Still, Democrats — including Crockett — gave Greene credit for finally seeing the light. What no one could have expected, however, was for the Texas representative to reach out to Greene to collaborate on a security bill.
“We had reached out to her trying to collab on a security bill,” the Texan continued. “I just wanted to sit down with her and find a place of common ground in our shared experiences and work on this because I felt like if there’s a bill that could get passed in chambers, it would be one where two people that are diametrically opposed on almost anything are in agreement.”
The Democrat is no stranger to receiving threats from Trump and his supporters. She told The Root the political violence stems from the executive office. “We’ve had to do all this stuff since he’s been in office, and no one’s talking about that,” she said. “There’s always so many more threats when he’s around.”
Crockett’s office reached out to Greene’s but hasn’t heard anything back. The two representatives have had their fair share of disagreements in the past — including a viral exchange during a House oversight committee last year. That’s when Crockett blasted Greene as a “bleach-blonde, bad-built, butch-body.”
Still, it seems the representative is ready to put the past behind them in order to fight for the greater good. “You don’t want somebody who is serving [Trump]. You want somebody that is serving you,” Crockett added. “You deserve somebody that is going to serve you. And while you may disagree with them on something philosophically or otherwise, I just don’t think we can allow ourselves to be divided.”
