No matter how hard President Donald Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi try, the fallout over the controversial files from one of America’s most shocking federal cases in history just doesn’t seem to want to go away. Now, Democratic leaders are calling the administration out by name… and it’s not pretty.

MAGA leaders once promised to unleash the sealed files of Jeffrey Epstein– the disgraced financier and accused child predator– if Trump was elected to office. But after six months, many have accused the administration of hiding something nefarious. The controversy has led to a rebellion within the MAGA movement, with key Republicans even turning their backs on Trump. But according to Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett, folks within the MAGA camp need to be held account.
“We should be calling in Pam Bondi. We should put her under oath to testify in front of judiciary on the House side about Epstein,” the congresswoman told CNN’s Laura Coates. According to Crockett, there’s been a switch up in the administration about the Epstein files, and she wants to get to the bottom of it.
“She [Bondi] said ‘Oh, you know I got the files on my desk.’ Then the next thing you know, she said, ‘Well, wait a minute there are no files.’ Which one is it?” Crockett continued, “When were you lying? And why are you lying? What is the coverup?”
A formal investigation done by the Department of Justice (DOJ) found Epstein, who was found dead in his prison cell, died by suicide. The findings also said there was “no incriminating ‘client list’” of influential people who engaged in sexual offenses against minors on “Epstein’s island.” The July memo sent Americans, who theorized this secret list included some of Hollywood’s top names, into a rage.
The Texas representative continued saying if Bondi ever gets formally interrogated, she’ll have more concerns then just Epstein. “I don’t have any confidence in the way she is running this DOJ. I believe that she’s okay with violating the law.”
House Republicans on a sub-committee voted against a motion forcing the DOJ to release the Epstein files on Monday night. The matter was brought to the Congress floor, and once again, Republicans voted overwhelming to quell the files, marking the second time in under 24 hours that Republicans voted on the matter.
Minority House Leader Hakeem Jeffries appeared on MSNBC demanding the American people be given full transparency. “The American people deserve to know the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth as it relates to this whole Jeffrey Epstein matter,” he said.
As to who is to blame for the uproar, Jeffries pointed the finger back at Trump. “His MAGA extremists allies have fanned the flames of this conspiracy theory for years,” he continued.
The representative added there’s two reasons why the DOJ and Trump have done a complete 180 on the Epstein files. “Either Trump, Bondi and that whole crew have been lying to the American people over the last several years about what is actually in the Jeffrey Epstein files, or… [they’re] hiding something from the American people right now,” sharing Crockett’s sentiment.
According to Jeffries, this case speaks to broader issues in Trump’s camp. “What we’ve seen from the Trump administration is a government of the billionaires, by the billionaires and for the billionaires,” he said. “Now, what we see is the possibility that there’s a massive coverup taking place within the Trump administration because there may be people on the Epstein list… that Trump is trying to protect who happen to be part of his billionaire cabal.”
