According to reports, Natasha Hays and her three children were asleep Tuesday when a car drove by and shot at her home. Hays died, while her children were not injured.

In a series of tweets, the singer urged an end to gun violence:

“Nobody deserves to lose their mother, sister, cousin, friend, etc. to the hands of evil. Evil has no race,” Monáe also tweeted.

No suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting.
