Jaden Smith Has Always Been ‘Weird,’ But He Finally Explains Exactly Why

Jaden Smith is keeping it a buck about his off-kilter behavior over the years.

It’s no secret that Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith’s son has been in the headlines over the years about everything from his eclectic fashion sense to his own music. Seemingly every member of the Smith family has had their moment(s) of scrutiny at one time or another. And while the 26-year-old very rarely takes the time out to address the chatter, it appears he had a change of heart over the weekend.

In addition to dropping a new music video for his song “The Coolest Part 2" on X/Twitter, Jaden followed up with a small anecdote in an attempt to explain his personal quirks over the years.

“All The Weird Shit You’ve Ever Seen Me Do Was Me Thinking I Was Totally Normal, So Now Sometimes I Try To Act Weird On Purpose So Yall Think It’s On Purpose,” he wrote. “But At The End Of The Day I’ve Been Trying To Fit In This Whole Time And I Guess It’s Not Exactly Going To Plan.”

Jaden’s sentiments echo the ones he made previously in an interview with Complex from last week, in which he dives deeper into his “weird” behavior:

I went through a lot of my life trying to be normal. It was a really big deal for me for a long time that people thought that I was normal. And that bothered me after a while. I started to feel like people didn’t really understand me or see me, and I wasn’t really trying to show anybody that.

“I think it’s just about trying to bring in a different perspective to the world so people have a bunch of different perspectives to look at,” he said.
