J.K. Rowling Says She’d “Do Prison Time” Over Her Transgender Views. OK, Bye.

Rowling can't help herself from once again attacking trans people.

In true rich white woman fashion, J.K. Rowling continues to use her privilege to shamelessly attack vulnerable groups. For some reason, the author thought it was appropriate to say that she’s willing to serve prison time over her opinion on transgender women.

And quite frankly, we’re not opposed to that idea.

Rowling’s response came after The Daily Mail reported a story that statedΒ a Labour government in Britain could make gender identity attacks a criminal offense.

A user on X (formerly Twitter) shared a photo that featured the sentence, β€œRepeat after us: Trans women are women.” Rowling responded by saying β€œNo,” prompting the user to share the Mail article.

Sources told the paper that folks could receive prison time for refusing to use a transgender person’s preferred pronouns, though the information hasn’t been verified.

No policy changes have been solidified yet, but over the summer Labour leaders said they would β€œmodernize, simplify and reform” gender legislation.

On X, Rowling wrote: β€œI’ll happily do two years if the alternative is compelled speech and forced denial of the reality and importance of sex. Bring on the court case, I say. It’ll be more fun than I’ve ever had on a red carpet.”

Rowling also joked about some of her possible prison duties. β€œHoping for the library, obviously, but I think I could do ok in the kitchen,” she commented.

β€œLaundry might be a problem. I have a tendency to shrink stuff/turn it pink accidentally. Guessing that won’t be a major issue if it’s mostly scrubs and sheets, though.”

Rowling has a despicable history of attacking trans folks. In 2019, she shared her β€œgender-critical” beliefs when she tweeted support for Maya Forstater, a woman who was fired from her job for making transphobic tweets.

In 2022, Rowling vocally opposed Scotland’s proposed Gender Recognition Act. In a statement on her website, she stated it would allow β€œmale-bodied individuals” the right to be in women’s spaces β€œsuch as public bathrooms, changing rooms, and rape support centres.”

Rowling will continue to push her ignorant agendaβ€”and will continue to be called out on it.
