On June 23, two days shy of the six-year anniversary of the King of Pop’s death, a photographer took a photo of a lightning storm in Goochland County, Va., that, to some, apppears to show a mirage of Jackson doing the moonwalk.

The photo became a viral sensation on social media, with many finding it particularly amusing that Jackson seemingly emerged in rare form to commemorate the anniversary of his death.

The photographer, John Plashal, told KDVR that he got an alert from a storm-chaser app and set up shop near a restaurant to take a few photos of the storm. It wasn’t until he submitted his photos to the WTVR CBS 6 Facebook page that he noticed the apparent mirage of Jackson in his photos.

“The image that you see of Michael Jackson just happens to be there,” Plashal said, insisting that he didn’t use a photo-editing program to alter the photo in any way.

“It’s pretty wild,” he said.
