Former President Barack Obama paid an impromptu visit to British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Monday. Obama’s visit to the other side of the pond had the internet suggesting that his visit might have something to do with a certain missing Princess of Wales.
Kate Middleton has not been photographed in public in months since reportedly receiving abdominal surgery in January. Speculation about her whereabouts only intensified after her social media account shared a British Mother’s Day photo — that was later revealed by the Associated Press and other news outlets to be “manipulated.” The official Princess of Wales account apologized, saying she was an “amateur” photographer experimenting with editing. Naturally, this only led to more confusion because it seems highly unlikely the unfathomably wealthy royals are doing their own photo-editing. She was reportedly “spotted” recently at “farm shop,” but no photos were released.
Obama’s presence in the United Kingdom in the midst of one of the most perplexing mysteries in modern royal history — sparked infinite jokes on social media.
“If anyone is going to get answers on Kate Middleton, it’s Barack Obama,” posted Brandon Pope TV on X.
“Got the whole Illuminati showing up,” tweeted another social media user.
“This just keeps getting more and more interesting,” posted Imani Gandy.
All jokes aside, the former President did have a good reason for visiting the UK. According to Politico, Obama was in London for an Obama Foundation meeting and decided to visit Sunak for an afternoon tea. They reportedly discussed a host of hot topics, including Artificial Intelligence.
For everyone wondering, there’s no evidence the pair discussed Kate Middleton’s hiatus from public life. But feel free to keep speculating about detective Obama.
