While some fans are still digging into Taylor Swift’s new album “The Life of a Show Girl,” others are trying to dissect whether or not her latest move involving Teyana Taylor was a form of shade against Kayla Nicole—the ex-girlfriend of Swift’s NFL player fiancé Travis Kelce.

As we already told you, earlier this month on Oct. 3, Swift released her aforementioned twelfth studio album. As a part of her rollout, she sent out the long-awaited project in a special package to a handful of her friends and peers in the music industry. Some of those people included Serena Williams, Jenna Bush Hager, and Brittany Mahomes—wife to fellow NFL star Patrick Mahomes (who plays on the Kansas City Chiefs with Kelce).
But there was one other person who received the package that has the Swifties and others looking twice and that’s none other than Teyana. Now sure, both Swift and the “A Thousand and One” star make music and the business is a small community—but it seems a little odd that out of all the people who’d get this album, Taylor did.
After all, they’re in two different genres and signed to different record labels, so it’s no wonder why some people would question Swift’s generosity towards her. However, there could very well be an explanation for it and trust us, this is a messy one!
Let’s take it back to October 2024 when Nicole revealed on a podcast that she once dated a NBA player some years back but they kept their dealings with each other under wraps. Things would later sour between the two of them after the baller allegedly dumped her through a text message and popped out with a “singer/actress who was famous at the time” as his official girlfriend, according to Nicole. Feeling scorned, she then shared that she decided to dress up as the basketball player’s new boo that year for Halloween. (She’s since deleted the pictures).
Naturally, once Nicole’s words began circulating, fans did some internet sleuthing and saw that she dressed up as Taylor in her famous 2016 “Fade” music video. That led them to conclude that the famous ball player had to be none other than Taylor’s ex-husband Iman Shumpert.
After getting wind of everything herself, Teyana took to Instagram and made a post essentially confirming everyone’s suspicions and pushed back on Nicole’s vague description of her as a “singer/actress who was famous at the time.” What’s important to note here though is that she also used one of Swift’s old songs “Shake It Off” to further add to her message. Teyana later called Nicole’s comments “distasteful” and “uncalled for” in a since-deleted comment.
“F*ck the Iman part, l’m divorced and happily so, however, her choice of words were very distasteful and uncalled for,” Teyana said at the time. “She knew exactly what she was doing. That lady said ‘she was famous at the time’ [and] also said ‘idc who see it’ [and] it was very distasteful & uncalled for. Most importantly she knew people would dig. I’m finding out just like the world that her intentions were ill and petty.”
So now, fast forward to October 2025, and it looks like Swift is making it clear that she supports Teyana by way of her sending that special album package. That only makes sense seeing as how both women both seemingly have an issue with Nicole due to her past involvement with each of their respective men. And of course, once other fans put two and two together, they were quick to chat online about Swift and Teyana’s common enemy and the gesture.
“Now Taylor! I’M SCREAMING!!! 2025 really hate to see a Taylor coming,” one user said on X/Twitter.
“THESE DIVAAAAAS HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA PETTY TAYLORS,” wrote one other user.
“It’s actually strategic considering the lore between Teyana and Travis’s ex Kayla Nicole. They had beef,” said another.
“Taylor swift is so fucking funny I love her,” another other user noted.
Added someone else: “Ohh some people don’t get it yet but Taylor getting messy this era and I love it.”
